Sports Massage is for Professional Athletes, for anyone “Playing Sports” and anyone athletic. It is a firm to deep pressure and usually includes stretches. If you do not wish to be stretched it’s best to inform your Massage Therapist before the massage starts. Sports Massage is effective for injuries/ Strain/Strains and Tendonitis. Neuro-Muscular Therapy (NMT) is a cross-fiber friction that is done to smooth out scar-tissue (adhesions) in the body. NMT is a form of Medical Massage. NMT Massage is excellent for Tendonitis, Ligament-itis, and soft tissue injuries. Ice therapy Application is recommended after NMT massage for the proper healing of the tissues, ligaments, tendons. We offer 60 min, 75min, 90 min, and 2 Hour Sports Massage Treatments.
People often think Sports Massage is suited only for athletes. In fact, you don’t have to be an athlete. Athletes tend to receive sports massage for a variety of reasons: Athletes intensively train their bodies for their sport. When they do, certain muscle groups tend to hypertrophy more than others, this often causes changes in strength patterns, connective tissue formation, and compensation patterns for the rest of the body. Athletes are more prone to soft tissue injuries because of these factors. It’s important for athletes and all people to receive massage therapy from a Licensed Massage Therapist. If an athlete decides to get massage before a competition or sports event, it’s best for them to do it at least 24 hours before the competition of sports event. If a person is injured, it’s best to wait at least 3-7 days before getting a massage. This, of course, depends on the severity of the injury. If you’re injured it’s best to be under the care of a medical doctor. Please discontinue activity, elevate the injured area, and continuously ice your injury, to begin the healing process and prevent further injury from occurring.

Sports Massage is suited for all of these physical issues. Neuro-muscular Therapy is a specialized type of sports massage that addresses scar-tissue in the body. Scar tissue decreases circulation and structural alignment and causes pain. If scar tissue isn’t addressed with massage therapy then it will increase over time ( that area is more prone to further injury).
