Therapeutic Massage is any style of massage that is done with a therapeutic intention (intending healing to occur). A few goals of therapeutic massage are: helping the improvement of the body’s structural alignment, moving uric acid and other metabolic wastes out of the tissues, and helping ease muscle tension. A couple others are: working out scar-tissue that’s left over from injury and relieving one’s pain.
Massage therapy is always supposed to be therapeutic. Whether it’s a Reflexology treatment or a foot massage, both should be done with therapeutic intention. Whether it’s Deep Tissue Massage or Sports Massage, both should be done with a therapeutic intention (which involves techniques of moving the muscles a specific direction). Lomi Lomi is an excellent modality for therapeutic massage therapy.
Lomi Lomi is Hawaiian massage. It’s therapeutic and also very relaxing. If you’d like a mix of Swedish massage and Lomi Lomi ( deep pressure) we can do that. If you’d like to combine Sports massage with hot stone massage, we can do that. We encourage you to discover what modalities of massage you prefer.
Our State Licensed Massage Therapists (trained in Maui) understand that massage is always supposed to be therapeutic. They know it’s not just oil being rubbed across the skin. Therapeutic Massage tends to be a firm to deep pressure. Therapeutic Massage modalities include Lomi Lomi, Deep Tissue, Sports, Shiatsu, Thai, South African, Hot Stone and Reflexology.
You may combine modalities. We’ll customize your massage. You may add a coconut scalp massage, aromatherapy, or a sugar or salt body scrub. Duration of massage can be 60 minutes, 75 minutes, 90 minutes or 2 hours. Add-ons are included in the overall duration of time.
